Of the over 140 million Minecraft players, I feel like the only one to have noticed this armor crafting technique. Although this method is not as fast anymore with the addition of the crafting book I felt the need to share this soon to be lost forever minecraft lore.
I begin by filling the crafting grid with 24 ingots in this pattern; and then remove the top middle 2 ingots like this;

Next I shift click the chest plate so it goes into my inventory; and then I replace the 2 ingots into the top middle like this;

Now I simply shift click the pants, helmet, and then boots in that order as Minecraft automatically sets the crafted items in that order like this;

In the vast number of minecraft videos I have watched over the years no one has come across this method, not even the best speedrunners.
There was a time when this strategy would gain an advantage but now it is a neat trick. I sincerely hope this was not a waste of your time.
